UK Research and Innovation has appointed Geoff Robins as Transformation Director
Dr Robins brings more than 30 years’ senior management experience to the role, from both the private and public sector, most recently as Transformation Director for Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), part of the Ministry of Defence.
At DE&S, he was responsible for one of the largest transformation programmes in Government, across an organisation with 11,000 staff and a £14bn annual budget.
As UKRI Transformation Director, Geoff will drive the transformation programme developing and embedding the new operating model and working with staff to build and strengthen UKRI culture.
UK Research and Innovation Chief Executive Professor Sir Mark Walport said: “Transformation will support success across every aspect of our organisation, it is vital we get it right, and I am delighted we have appointed Geoff to lead the work.
“His expertise, combined with his significant leadership experience across the public and private sector, will be invaluable it delivering this major programme.”
Dr Robins, who took up the role this week, said: “The transformation programme is a huge opportunity to build on our strengths and realise the full benefits of working as one organisation. Prior to his role at DE&S, Dr Robins was Group Managing Director at Atkins Aerospace, Defence and Communications and Managing Director at Advantage Business Group. He gained a PhD in Physics from the University of Liverpool.
