The University of Sheffield
Finger-tip sized origami robot
We are University of Sheffield Microrobotics Lab, and we will present two types of palm-size robots. One robot is a self-folding origami robot which only weighs 0.3 grams, and can be self-folded from a planar sheet. The robot is being developed for the purpose of in-body microsurgery, by ingesting it to send into the human body. Moreover, this origami robot can morph into different shapes and acquire different locomotion modalities. For example, it can transform into a wing-bot to glide down from the stage. The other robot is a wheeled robot that can move around driven by an external magnetic field, and has no electronics on-board.
